"My grandmother taught me to sew when I was two years old. I have been drawing and painting my whole life. Those original forms I fell in love with have found their way into my current work, a cross-pollination of printmaking, textiles, found objects, sets/installations, makeup and costume design.
I am interested in the idea of seeing the transitory, fluid nature of Reality; the moments and symbols that exist between spaces and outside the framework of categories and verbal explanation. The subjective experience and also the collective experience, as told through images. Humans are in the midst of a difficult challenge: survival on a rapidly changing planet, war and destruction looming at every corner. I believe survival lies in one's adaptation to see beyond our own limited experience and reject constructed barriers which reinforce fear, separation, "Other"-ing, disconnection from our own bodies and the planet. Through this opening and coming together, I believe we can heal and grow as a species. My work is a snapshot of my own inner world as I process emotions, realizations, and experiences into visual metaphors that become tools of empowerment."
